LOVE LAND is an ongoing community-building tree planting project that invites people to gather and plant native seedlings with a personal handwritten message onto biodegradable paper placed underneath. Over time, the messages will come to nourish the seedling into its growth, so each plant is symbolically infused with human connection and care. LOVE LAND is a simple and powerful way to reforest and connect with the natural world.

The first iteration of LOVE LAND took place at The CORRIDOR Project as part of its ERTHWRX24 program. Participants gathered in a communal act of renewal to plant native seedlings appropriate to the local environment. Each seedling was planted with a loving message, handwritten on biodegradable paper and placed beneath its roots.

The project offers a simple but meaningful opportunity to engage in a restorative act: to plant, to tend, to give something back. Each seedling becomes a small vessel for human affection, and a moment of reciprocity with the more-than-human world.

LOVE LAND has since been planted at sites across NSW, including The CORRIDOR Project, Hill Top Community Centre, Yerrinbool Hall, Southern Highlands Memorial Park and Koala Sanctuary (Canyonleigh), Osborn House (Bundanoon), and Bundanon Art Museum (Illaroo).
