The Poetics of the Contemporary Soul
What does ‘soul’ mean to you?
How do you experience ‘soul’?
The Poetics of the Contemporary Soul is a long-term poetry project that steps away from theological, academic or simply impersonal accounts of what ‘soul’ means to people today – from the religious, spiritual, conceptual, agnostic, scientific, artistic, musical, sensual and more.
Jessica is interviewing people and asking them about their stories of soul. She is then re-presenting these stories, thoughts and ideas into a collection of poems that document the contemporary soul – The Poetics of the Contemporary Soul. It’s not about believing or not believing, but what you sense about ‘soul’ in your life.
“My soul is from elsewhere, I’m sure of that, and I intend to end up there.” – Rumi
